FACT: There are approx. 27 million active shoplifters in our nation today. American retailers lose $45 billion annually to theft. In the business of retail, there are two separate but equally important parties. The ShopLyfter that tries to steal, and the loss prevention officer. Once caught, these officers need to make sure these delinquents never steal again by ANY MEANS NECESSARY. These are their stories. September 22nd 12:09pm Grand Theft - Store attendant noticed suspicious character acting fidgety. LP officer was alerted and observed suspect on camera. She was seen concealing large amounts of expensive lingerie on her person. LP officer stepped in and escorted suspect to the security room for interrogation. After several minutes of intimidation, suspect submitted to LP officers terms. Suspect was given leniency as this was her first offense and not arrested. However, an order of no admittance was written up and she cannot be within 500ft of the establishment. September 26th 10:30am Petty Theft - Suspect was spotted on fitting room camera stuffing her purse with several pieces of merchandise. After exiting the fitting room, LP officer approached the suspect, asking her to please reveal the contents of her purse. Suspect was then escorted to LP office. Photos were taken and uploaded to the store theft database. Police were not contacted. September 21st 11:43 am Petty Theft - Suspect was escorted to LP office. She was given one final chance to admit if anything else had been taken. Suspect was truthful and seemed filled with remorse. LP officer decided to upload her photos into the theft database. Cops were not called. October 5th 2:01pm Theft - Suspect caught on video surveillance entering fitting room with several pairs of panties, exiting with no merchandise. Suspect was approached and escorted to back room LP office. Suspect was disciplined on site and photos added to the store shoplyfter database.
